Narrative:
While taxiing into gate X at lga my aircraft's jet blast blew 2 connected baggage carts into a parked boeing 727 aircraft. I was taxiing on the taxi line with all engines running which is the procedure. I taxied as directed into gate. My aircraft weight was approximately 306000 pounds which required only idle power to continue moving. When directed to stop for parking at the gate, I shut down the engine. I was later notified that my aircraft had blown the carts into the B727 parked behind gate Y. I inspected the scene and found that the carts had moved across the ramp and struck the B727 below and aft of the entry door. I noticed the 2 carts were hooked together and the brakes had not been set. (The tongue was down and there was no skid marks.) I feel that if the baggage carts had the brakes set this situation would not have happened. There was other carts and equipment in the area which was set with brakes or chocks and there was no movement of it. This is a congested area, and with aircraft taxiing in the area, more attention should be made to secure all equipment in the area.

Title: L1011 TAXIING INTO GATE HAS JET BLAST BLOW BAGGAGE CARTS INTO PARKED B727.
Narrative: WHILE TAXIING INTO GATE X AT LGA MY ACFT'S JET BLAST BLEW 2 CONNECTED BAGGAGE CARTS INTO A PARKED BOEING 727 ACFT. I WAS TAXIING ON THE TAXI LINE WITH ALL ENGS RUNNING WHICH IS THE PROC. I TAXIED AS DIRECTED INTO GATE. MY ACFT WT WAS APPROX 306000 LBS WHICH REQUIRED ONLY IDLE PWR TO CONTINUE MOVING. WHEN DIRECTED TO STOP FOR PARKING AT THE GATE, I SHUT DOWN THE ENG. I WAS LATER NOTIFIED THAT MY ACFT HAD BLOWN THE CARTS INTO THE B727 PARKED BEHIND GATE Y. (THE TONGUE WAS DOWN AND THERE WAS NO SKID MARKS.) I FEEL THAT IF THE BAGGAGE CARTS HAD THE BRAKES SET THIS SIT WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. THERE WAS OTHER CARTS AND EQUIP IN THE AREA WHICH WAS SET WITH BRAKES OR CHOCKS AND THERE WAS NO MOVEMENT OF IT. THIS IS A CONGESTED AREA, AND WITH ACFT TAXIING IN THE AREA, MORE ATTN SHOULD BE MADE TO SECURE ALL EQUIP IN THE AREA.
