Narrative:

The runway at natrona county international (cpr) airport has lighted runway signs on the pavement of the runway. The runway also has a very odd shape to it. It is not a rectangle. I tried to draw a picture of what I think it looks like. The runway was 150 ft wide (according to people at FBO) and the runway was narrowed to 60 ft wide to save money on maintenance costs. The asphalt was not removed to make the runway narrower. This was done to save money. The airport lighted sign bars were moved and installed on the unmaintained and some maintained asphalt of the runway. Refer to the diagram. I landed on runway 21, slowed the airplane down to taxi speed, turned off the runway, acknowledged that I saw the twin taxiing to runway 21 and that I would let him pass and taxi to fuel. I was going to start my first s-turn (this is an experimental biplane tail dragger) to clear the way ahead of me. I hit the airport lighted sign bar on the asphalt before I made the first s-turn. What can be done to prevent recurrence. Never put signs on the pavement of a runway. Never put anything on the pavement of a runway, taxiway, etc, that an aircraft can run into. What can be done to correct the situation. Remove the signs off of the pavement. Remove the unused pavement if you want a narrowed runway. I bought the plans to build this airplane in 1977. The first flight was oct/xx/94. My dream was to fly to oshkosh and return. The airplane is now ruined and in pieces because somebody wanted to save money. Please don't let this happen to anyone else. Thank you for your help.

Title: HIT ARPT SIGN BAR DURING TAXI.

Narrative: THE RWY AT NATRONA COUNTY INTL (CPR) ARPT HAS LIGHTED RWY SIGNS ON THE PAVEMENT OF THE RWY. THE RWY ALSO HAS A VERY ODD SHAPE TO IT. IT IS NOT A RECTANGLE. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO PREVENT RECURRENCE. NEVER PUT SIGNS ON THE PAVEMENT OF A RWY. NEVER PUT ANYTHING ON THE PAVEMENT OF A RWY, TXWY, ETC, THAT AN ACFT CAN RUN INTO. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO CORRECT THE SIT. REMOVE THE SIGNS OFF OF THE PAVEMENT. REMOVE THE UNUSED PAVEMENT IF YOU WANT A NARROWED RWY. I BOUGHT THE PLANS TO BUILD THIS AIRPLANE IN 1977. THE FIRST FLT WAS OCT/XX/94. MY DREAM WAS TO FLY TO OSHKOSH AND RETURN. THE AIRPLANE IS NOW RUINED AND IN PIECES BECAUSE SOMEBODY WANTED TO SAVE MONEY. PLEASE DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE.
