Narrative:
Altitude deviation, on descent into bgi, controller cleared us to 3000 ft with numerous buildups/showers in area, controller asked us to advise when field in sight. Saw airport, notified controller and he cleared us for visual approach. At 2700 ft controller advised us to remain at 3000 ft until past shoreline. This is on page 10-5. The descent was a combo of being used to going to final approach fix altitude when cleared visual approach and to remain VFR. A gotcha in the grass.
