Narrative:

Night landing at pns runway 35. Exited runway approximately 100 yds short of taxiway onto grass. Attempted to turn aircraft 180 degrees back to hard surface when nose tire encountered 50 ft sand filled hole left from runway lighting work. Propeller tips damaged. No other aircraft damage. At no time did tower advise taxi instructions, or of construction in the area. Contributing factor: pilot had just completed 11.5 hour cross country and did not maintain proper vigilance in the absence of ATC advisories.

Title: PLT OF AN SMA SEL TURNED OFF RWY TOO EARLY BEFORE REACHING A TXWY CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE PROP WHEN RUNNING OVER LOOSE UNPACKED DIRT FILLED HOLE.

Narrative: NIGHT LNDG AT PNS RWY 35. EXITED RWY APPROX 100 YDS SHORT OF TXWY ONTO GRASS. ATTEMPTED TO TURN ACFT 180 DEGS BACK TO HARD SURFACE WHEN NOSE TIRE ENCOUNTERED 50 FT SAND FILLED HOLE LEFT FROM RWY LIGHTING WORK. PROP TIPS DAMAGED. NO OTHER ACFT DAMAGE. AT NO TIME DID TWR ADVISE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS, OR OF CONSTRUCTION IN THE AREA. CONTRIBUTING FACTOR: PLT HAD JUST COMPLETED 11.5 HR XCOUNTRY AND DID NOT MAINTAIN PROPER VIGILANCE IN THE ABSENCE OF ATC ADVISORIES.
