Narrative:
I was in a piper super cub towing a local banner at the beach. I arrived back at allaire airport and dropped the banner and came in for a landing on runway 14. After an uneventful landing, a deer shot across the runway near the second taxiway from the approach end of runway 14. I stepped on the brakes and being that this is a tailwheel aircraft, the plane went on its nose causing the propeller to strike the runway. The damage was not substantial since the crankshaft was not bent and did not need an engine overhaul. In hindsight I cannot really say how I could have prevented this situation since it happened so quickly. The only other alternative was to turn sharply to the right which would have put me in a ditch alongside the runway. Had I used any lesser amount of brakes, the chances of hitting the deer would have been very good.
