Narrative:
The 53 voice line (PO4853 line) is a dedicated voice or shout line to mlu approach control. It is a vital line for coordination with mlu. For 2 days it was OTS and we had to use the commercial telephone line to coordinate with mlu approach. The tower, located 12 mi to the west, is tied in to the 53 line because approach control operations are remoted there overnight. During the 2-DAY outage at the RAPCON, the 53 line in the tower worked fine. All of the telephone lines at the RAPCON go through a military telephone vault on barksdale before they come into the radar building. This has also caused a lot of problems in the past.
