Narrative:
I am instrument student flying in my own airplane, a piper arrow, being instructed by a cfii. It was my first VOR practice approach. At missed approach, I switched radio back to cape approach and requested heading vector to another practice approach. Cape approach asked what heading ack tower assigned. I immediately switched to ack tower. Female voice controller was annoyed and asked why I wasn't on her frequency. I replied that I inadvertently switched frequency. She then gave me heading and we switched to cape approach and completed another VOR approach to a full stop. After clearing the active and switching to ground, a male voice said something like 'in class D airspace, don't you know that you are not supposed to switch frequency without authority/authorized.' his voice was loud and argumentative. My instructor told him of the events and apologized. Controller said 'that is not acceptable.' my instructor called tower by phone later and again apologized to female controller. She thanked him and had no other comment. No further word from ground controller.

Title: INST STUDENT FAILS TO ADVISE THE TWR WHEN EXECUTING A MISSED APCH.
Narrative: I AM INST STUDENT FLYING IN MY OWN AIRPLANE, A PIPER ARROW, BEING INSTRUCTED BY A CFII. IT WAS MY FIRST VOR PRACTICE APCH. AT MISSED APCH, I SWITCHED RADIO BACK TO CAPE APCH AND REQUESTED HDG VECTOR TO ANOTHER PRACTICE APCH. CAPE APCH ASKED WHAT HDG ACK TWR ASSIGNED. I IMMEDIATELY SWITCHED TO ACK TWR. FEMALE VOICE CTLR WAS ANNOYED AND ASKED WHY I WASN'T ON HER FREQ. I REPLIED THAT I INADVERTENTLY SWITCHED FREQ. SHE THEN GAVE ME HDG AND WE SWITCHED TO CAPE APCH AND COMPLETED ANOTHER VOR APCH TO A FULL STOP. AFTER CLRING THE ACTIVE AND SWITCHING TO GND, A MALE VOICE SAID SOMETHING LIKE 'IN CLASS D AIRSPACE, DON'T YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO SWITCH FREQ WITHOUT AUTH.' HIS VOICE WAS LOUD AND ARGUMENTATIVE. MY INSTRUCTOR TOLD HIM OF THE EVENTS AND APOLOGIZED. CTLR SAID 'THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.' MY INSTRUCTOR CALLED TWR BY PHONE LATER AND AGAIN APOLOGIZED TO FEMALE CTLR. SHE THANKED HIM AND HAD NO OTHER COMMENT. NO FURTHER WORD FROM GND CTLR.
