Narrative:
Upon landing on runway 28, we decelerated and turned off the runway at either taxiway east or runway 33L and onto taxiway right, this all happened quickly. The controller began to yell 'you're on a closed taxiway, taxi at your own risk.' we asked what he wanted us to do. He said 'proceed at your own risk.' the main problem here is that the taxiway was lighted. As you depart a runway, it is natural to follow the lights! There were no barriers or other markers to indicate the taxiway was closed. In addition, the controller was of no help. He knows the airport, we don't.
