Narrative:
Landed runway 8 iah normal. Cleared via east bridge to parking. Gate assigned southeast corner of terminal. Turned on taxiway sx which is nearer for gates in that area. Aircraft were parked on both sides of taxiway, but taxiway appeared adequate. I had never seen aircraft on both sides of taxiway. No aircraft had lights or other obstruction lights illuminated. Taxiway was not notamed as closed. ATIS did not say taxiway was closed. Ground control did not say taxiway was closed and no barriers were present. About 800 ft down taxiway left wingtip made contact with a catering truck (unlit) pulled up to forward service door on parked aircraft. Damage to my wingtip, catering truck and perhaps to side of aircraft that truck was next to. Passenger deplaned via stairs and bussed to terminal. No injuries. Taxiway should have been closed and barricaded or aircraft not parked so as to obstruct taxiway. I should have used alternate route to taxi after seeing aircraft parked with minimum clearance and not illuminated.

Title: FLC OF AN MLG STRUCK A WINGTIP DURING TAXI ON A NON MOVEMENT TXWY WHEN THE ACFT STRUCK A PARKED CATERING TRUCK.
Narrative: LANDED RWY 8 IAH NORMAL. CLRED VIA E BRIDGE TO PARKING. GATE ASSIGNED SE CORNER OF TERMINAL. TURNED ON TXWY SX WHICH IS NEARER FOR GATES IN THAT AREA. ACFT WERE PARKED ON BOTH SIDES OF TXWY, BUT TXWY APPEARED ADEQUATE. I HAD NEVER SEEN ACFT ON BOTH SIDES OF TXWY. NO ACFT HAD LIGHTS OR OTHER OBSTRUCTION LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. TXWY WAS NOT NOTAMED AS CLOSED. ATIS DID NOT SAY TXWY WAS CLOSED. GND CTL DID NOT SAY TXWY WAS CLOSED AND NO BARRIERS WERE PRESENT. ABOUT 800 FT DOWN TXWY L WINGTIP MADE CONTACT WITH A CATERING TRUCK (UNLIT) PULLED UP TO FORWARD SVC DOOR ON PARKED ACFT. DAMAGE TO MY WINGTIP, CATERING TRUCK AND PERHAPS TO SIDE OF ACFT THAT TRUCK WAS NEXT TO. PAX DEPLANED VIA STAIRS AND BUSSED TO TERMINAL. NO INJURIES. TXWY SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLOSED AND BARRICADED OR ACFT NOT PARKED SO AS TO OBSTRUCT TXWY. I SHOULD HAVE USED ALTERNATE RTE TO TAXI AFTER SEEING ACFT PARKED WITH MINIMUM CLRNC AND NOT ILLUMINATED.
