Narrative:
This occurred during the kimmo 1 arrival near purms intersection to runway 24R. We were cleared to 2500 and to follow an air carrier to runway 24R. We were slowing from 220 KTS to 180 KTS and on a 150 degree heading for the intercept. ATC asked if we saw the air carrier to follow. We said yes, but were still waiting a visual clearance. While we waited for the visual, the heading of 150 degrees took us through the runway 24 final and near the lax runway 25 finals. We saw an A320 (air carrier Y) on the runway 25R final and made a turn to re-intercept the runway 24R localizer. ATC said his vector would probably take us through final and to turn right to re-intercept. The closest we came to air carrier Y was 800 ft below and 1/2 mi north of him. At no time were we underneath him. I would not consider this a near miss. After landing we heard air carrier Y talking to ground and wanting the number of socal to make a report. Our company received a call from socal and asked the captain to call. We did and socal said that the conflict was due to a bad vector on the part of themselves. They said they would re-contact us if need be, but we have heard nothing.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: COMMUTER ACFT ON VECTOR HDG GOES THROUGH FINAL APCH AND HAS CONFLICT WITH ACR FOR PARALLEL RWY.
Narrative: THIS OCCURRED DURING THE KIMMO 1 ARR NEAR PURMS INTXN TO RWY 24R. WE WERE CLRED TO 2500 AND TO FOLLOW AN ACR TO RWY 24R. WE WERE SLOWING FROM 220 KTS TO 180 KTS AND ON A 150 DEG HDG FOR THE INTERCEPT. ATC ASKED IF WE SAW THE ACR TO FOLLOW. WE SAID YES, BUT WERE STILL WAITING A VISUAL CLRNC. WHILE WE WAITED FOR THE VISUAL, THE HDG OF 150 DEGS TOOK US THROUGH THE RWY 24 FINAL AND NEAR THE LAX RWY 25 FINALS. WE SAW AN A320 (ACR Y) ON THE RWY 25R FINAL AND MADE A TURN TO RE-INTERCEPT THE RWY 24R LOC. ATC SAID HIS VECTOR WOULD PROBABLY TAKE US THROUGH FINAL AND TO TURN R TO RE-INTERCEPT. THE CLOSEST WE CAME TO ACR Y WAS 800 FT BELOW AND 1/2 MI N OF HIM. AT NO TIME WERE WE UNDERNEATH HIM. I WOULD NOT CONSIDER THIS A NEAR MISS. AFTER LNDG WE HEARD ACR Y TALKING TO GND AND WANTING THE NUMBER OF SOCAL TO MAKE A RPT. OUR COMPANY RECEIVED A CALL FROM SOCAL AND ASKED THE CAPT TO CALL. WE DID AND SOCAL SAID THAT THE CONFLICT WAS DUE TO A BAD VECTOR ON THE PART OF THEMSELVES. THEY SAID THEY WOULD RE-CONTACT US IF NEED BE, BUT WE HAVE HEARD NOTHING.
