Narrative:
Dispatched from iad with inoperative #1 main fuel quantity indicator. Maintenance reported having trouble with #1 electric fuel shutoff valve. Checklist was interrupted several times. Climbing out the first officer (PF) pointed out that 3 units of aileron trim was required for wings level flight. Careful examination of the fuel sheet along with consultation with dispatch and maintenance revealed that we had been overfueled by 1800 pounds, all in the #1 tank. Flight proceeded uneventfully and landed. Contributing factors: aircraft was fueled at the last min, both fueler and mechanic, as well as crew was rushed. We did not adhere to good checklist discipline, too many interruptions and we deferred the boarded fuel check until after the checklist. Failure of the so to do an accurate boarded fuel check. Failure of maintenance at the departure station to see open access door and disconnected cannon plug, this was disconnected after the so walkaround.
