Narrative:
Return leg from an accident scene to base hospital. Route runs from west to east, under incoming traffic landing to the south at airport X. I encountered wake turbulence at approximately 1600 ft MSL, 5 mi north of airport. 2 distinct and jarring encounters of turbulence were felt. Traffic was heavy at airport. Many heavy aircraft were landing. Traffic was approximately 1000 ft above me. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated he was flying a messerschmitt bolkow helicopter. The route under the ILS has been flown by him for the past 3 yrs perhaps 10 times a month and never before has he experienced a wake problem. The tower is aware of the EMS route under their ILS final approach. He said these vortex generated impacts did alarm him regarding structural stresses. No one was hurt in the helicopter and he plans to continue flying the route as he has been doing without incident for the past 3 yrs and approximately 10 times per month or 360 times.

Title: EMS HELI PLT RPTR ENCOUNTERS 2 SHARP JARRING IMPACTS FROM WAKE VORTICES FLYING UNDER THE FINAL APCH PATH OF A MAJOR INTL ARPT.
Narrative: RETURN LEG FROM AN ACCIDENT SCENE TO BASE HOSPITAL. RTE RUNS FROM W TO E, UNDER INCOMING TFC LNDG TO THE S AT ARPT X. I ENCOUNTERED WAKE TURB AT APPROX 1600 FT MSL, 5 MI N OF ARPT. 2 DISTINCT AND JARRING ENCOUNTERS OF TURB WERE FELT. TFC WAS HVY AT ARPT. MANY HVY ACFT WERE LNDG. TFC WAS APPROX 1000 FT ABOVE ME. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED HE WAS FLYING A MESSERSCHMITT BOLKOW HELI. THE RTE UNDER THE ILS HAS BEEN FLOWN BY HIM FOR THE PAST 3 YRS PERHAPS 10 TIMES A MONTH AND NEVER BEFORE HAS HE EXPERIENCED A WAKE PROB. THE TWR IS AWARE OF THE EMS RTE UNDER THEIR ILS FINAL APCH. HE SAID THESE VORTEX GENERATED IMPACTS DID ALARM HIM REGARDING STRUCTURAL STRESSES. NO ONE WAS HURT IN THE HELI AND HE PLANS TO CONTINUE FLYING THE RTE AS HE HAS BEEN DOING WITHOUT INCIDENT FOR THE PAST 3 YRS AND APPROX 10 TIMES PER MONTH OR 360 TIMES.
