Narrative:
I am a jump pilot for a skydive outfit in the chicago area. This day, I had to do a demonstration-drop (equal load of skydivers) on top of a big field where there was a motorcycle demonstration. There was a big crowd of bikers. As I got closer to the designated drop area, some of the skydivers asked me to do a low fly-by after they would all be on the ground. I said that that was no problem. I decided to keep it at 1000 ft AGL, not lower because of the big crowd and the houses close by (a little village- town). As I performed a safe fly-by, I still got a little lower than what I had planned. I guess my altitude was between 700-900 ft AGL. It was a mistake and I regret that I even did decide to do a low-pass. Normally I am a very conservative pilot. I never give in to do things that skydivers sometimes ask you to do. (They don't always realize what the consequences can be for the PIC.) it's my career and I can't afford to make any of these stupid mistakes again.
