Narrative:
I was making a right seat takeoff from dsm airport at approximately XA00 hours. Just after the 80 KT airspeed call there was a master caution light with an air conditioning segment light. The captain called 'rejected takeoff.' he assumed control of the aircraft and performed the reject. The aircraft was stopped with no problem and without excessive braking. The cause of the caution light was a 'left pack trip off.' the pack was reset and the temperature controller was reset to a higher temperature as directed by procedure. After checking brake energy chart and considering dispatch fuel requirements, the captain elected to taxi back and takeoff. The remaining trip was normal. In reviewing the decisions made during this incident I feel that it might have been more correct to return to the gate so the problem could be properly written up and signed off by a qualified mechanic. Also the flight should have been re- dispatched.

Title: FLC ABORTS TKOF DUE TO CAUTION WARNING OF PACK TRIP, COMPLETES PACK TRIP PROC, AND TAKES OFF WITHOUT RETURNING TO THE GATE.
Narrative: I WAS MAKING A R SEAT TKOF FROM DSM ARPT AT APPROX XA00 HRS. JUST AFTER THE 80 KT AIRSPD CALL THERE WAS A MASTER CAUTION LIGHT WITH AN AIR CONDITIONING SEGMENT LIGHT. THE CAPT CALLED 'REJECTED TKOF.' HE ASSUMED CTL OF THE ACFT AND PERFORMED THE REJECT. THE ACFT WAS STOPPED WITH NO PROB AND WITHOUT EXCESSIVE BRAKING. THE CAUSE OF THE CAUTION LIGHT WAS A 'L PACK TRIP OFF.' THE PACK WAS RESET AND THE TEMP CTLR WAS RESET TO A HIGHER TEMP AS DIRECTED BY PROC. AFTER CHKING BRAKE ENERGY CHART AND CONSIDERING DISPATCH FUEL REQUIREMENTS, THE CAPT ELECTED TO TAXI BACK AND TKOF. THE REMAINING TRIP WAS NORMAL. IN REVIEWING THE DECISIONS MADE DURING THIS INCIDENT I FEEL THAT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN MORE CORRECT TO RETURN TO THE GATE SO THE PROB COULD BE PROPERLY WRITTEN UP AND SIGNED OFF BY A QUALIFIED MECH. ALSO THE FLT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RE- DISPATCHED.
