Narrative:

In an effort to help a fellow employee get to a very busy city from our hub, I allowed the employee to occupy the cockpit jumpseat. All other seats were full including all cabin jumpseats. I coordinated my efforts with a ground supervisor and the lead flight attendant on my trip and got no objections. However, 1 of the crew flight attendants reported me to operations. I have received an unpaid vacation. Supplemental information from acn 320279: captain advised we had a cockpit jumpseat rider. Female in civilian clothes entered cockpit and sat down in jumpseat. Aircraft pushed back from gate and I realized that the rider was not a crew member, but a gate agent.
