Narrative:
We were passing 25500 ft cleared to 24000 ft. Aircraft on TCASII at 25000 ft. The controller called to ask us to level at 26000 ft. We started immediate climb to 26000 ft. Controller kept asking us if we were level at 26000 ft. Controller appeared to have missed the other traffic when giving us 24000 ft as an altitude.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ARTCC RADAR CTLR GAVE AN ACR B737 A DSCNT TO FL240 THEN TRIED TO STOP THE ACFT AT FL260 DUE TO TFC AT FL250. THE B737 SAW THE TFC ON ITS TCASII, BUT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE DSCNT UNTIL FL255. LTSS OCCURRED DUE TO THE LATE CLRNC FROM CTLR.
Narrative: WE WERE PASSING 25500 FT CLRED TO 24000 FT. ACFT ON TCASII AT 25000 FT. THE CTLR CALLED TO ASK US TO LEVEL AT 26000 FT. WE STARTED IMMEDIATE CLB TO 26000 FT. CTLR KEPT ASKING US IF WE WERE LEVEL AT 26000 FT. CTLR APPEARED TO HAVE MISSED THE OTHER TFC WHEN GIVING US 24000 FT AS AN ALT.
