Narrative:
Immediately after being cleared for takeoff, flight attendant called over intercom and said 'I have a fire in the mid galley.' I immediately called tower, relayed report, and requested clearance off runway. First officer talked to tower then while simultaneously my relief first officer went to cabin to assist with portable breathing equipment. He reported back within 5 mins that it had been an oven smoking from food spillage that was overheating. There had been and was no fire. The smoke was dissipating immediately after leaving vents around oven door and ceased when power was removed and door opened.
