Narrative:
Autoplt was in control wheel steering, did not level off at FL280. I noticed altitude alerter flashing at FL287. Captain realized mistake and returned to FL280, but not before it was noticed by ZID and called to our attention. Center said no conflict and reclred us to FL310.

Title: AUTOPLT MODE IN CWS (CTL WHEEL STEERING) ALT CAPTURE NOT FUNCTIONAL IN CWS. FLC FAILED TO MONITOR ALT AND ACFT CLBED 700 FT ABOVE ASSIGNED. ATC REASSIGNED HIGHER ALT.
Narrative: AUTOPLT WAS IN CTL WHEEL STEERING, DID NOT LEVEL OFF AT FL280. I NOTICED ALT ALERTER FLASHING AT FL287. CAPT REALIZED MISTAKE AND RETURNED TO FL280, BUT NOT BEFORE IT WAS NOTICED BY ZID AND CALLED TO OUR ATTN. CTR SAID NO CONFLICT AND RECLRED US TO FL310.
