Narrative:
Center gave us airspeed of 320 KTS or greater. Descending to 17000 ft MSL, at 4000 FPM. At FL183 center amended altitude to maintain FL180. At our current rate of descent and airspeed we went to 17500 ft MSL before being able to recover back to FL180. Center asked if we were maintaining FL180 and at the time of the asking we were at FL180 again. Supplemental information from acn 321600: while descending into ord in our B737, at approximately FL180 controller asked us to level 'right there.' more time would have been nice.
