Narrative:
We were cleared for takeoff runway 30 at lgb, XA45 local. At approximately 90 KTS we saw traffic taking off from runway 25R. At the same time tower canceled our takeoff clearance (the other aircraft on runway 25R had not received takeoff clearance). We stopped the aircraft according to our procedures, missing them by 200 plus ft. The tower did a fine job alerting us to the situation as the approach ends of runways 30 and 25R are not visible to each other.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: THIS WAS A CASE OF SIMULTANEOUS TKOFS ON XING RWYS WITH NEITHER ACFT ABLE TO SEE THE OTHER START ITS ROLL. THE ACR ON RWY 30 WAS CLRED, THE ACFT ON RWY 25 WAS NOT CLRED. THE TWR CTLR TOLD BOTH TO REJECT THEIR TKOFS. THE ACR STEERED AROUND THE OTHER ACFT AS THEY BOTH CAME TO A STOP.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF RWY 30 AT LGB, XA45 LCL. AT APPROX 90 KTS WE SAW TFC TAKING OFF FROM RWY 25R. AT THE SAME TIME TWR CANCELED OUR TKOF CLRNC (THE OTHER ACFT ON RWY 25R HAD NOT RECEIVED TKOF CLRNC). WE STOPPED THE ACFT ACCORDING TO OUR PROCS, MISSING THEM BY 200 PLUS FT. THE TWR DID A FINE JOB ALERTING US TO THE SIT AS THE APCH ENDS OF RWYS 30 AND 25R ARE NOT VISIBLE TO EACH OTHER.
