Narrative:
DC9 landed on runway 22R at ord. During the landing roll tower said to cross runway 9L, stay with him. At the time I was approaching taxiway C, the highspd, when I heard cross runway 9L, stay with me. I continued on the runway to cross runway 9L. A B737 was told to go around and the controller asked me why I did not turn at taxiway C. If the controller would have said 'left at taxiway C' or 'left at the highspd, cross runway 9L,' that's what I would have done. Also, getting a clearance during the landing roll is what contributed. Called tower and explained what happened.
