Narrative:

Cleared by ramp control at iad to follow air carrier X to taxiway, then contact ground control. We were distracted by radio closeout procedures and after start and taxi checklists and followed air carrier X to runway before we realized that we had not contacted ground control. We then made contact without further problems.

Narrative: CLRED BY RAMP CTL AT IAD TO FOLLOW ACR X TO TXWY, THEN CONTACT GND CTL. WE WERE DISTRACTED BY RADIO CLOSEOUT PROCS AND AFTER START AND TAXI CHKLISTS AND FOLLOWED ACR X TO RWY BEFORE WE REALIZED THAT WE HAD NOT CONTACTED GND CTL. WE THEN MADE CONTACT WITHOUT FURTHER PROBS.
