Narrative:
After completing all checklists and receiving our IFR clearance we pushed back onto an active taxiway which joins up to our company ramp. ATC (ground) advised us upon calling them for taxi clearance we had pushed without a pushback clearance. We advised them we did not know we needed a pushback clearance from that part of the airport. We had reviewed and discussed all airport NOTAMS, company NOTAMS, ATIS broadcasts, and the 10-10 page prior to pushing back and found no reference to a pushback clearance requirement. ATC said they would contact our bfi operations to make sure future aircraft knew of this requirement. We contacted our dispatch people and they issued a company NOTAM for bfi operations of this new requirement.
