Narrative:
We had a clearance to taxi into position and hold and I read back the instructions. Going through my pre-takeoff check, the captain heard a takeoff clearance so he recommended that I read it back myself not being sure. So I did, but it was not for us. The tower came back to us and told us we didn't have clearance to takeoff or even to be on the runway. So the captain started turning back off the runway. The takeoff clearance was for an air carrier Z on intersection 8 but we did have a clearance to taxi into position and hold before all of this. So now the tower came back and said 'taxi into position and hold' and we were already off the runway back to the taxiway. The captain didn't like the situation so he taxied off. I told tower after we were off and we ended up calling them. The tower controller was in training and when all this happened we did hear a second voice between all this. It seemed that the controller didn't know or listen to my readbacks also the captain should have stayed on the runway after our second taxi position and hold but it happened fast. Captain didn't like the situation because someone was approaching to land. In my opinion the captain was right to taxi off until someone knew what was going on in the confusion. I should have spoken up when the captain taxied off, yet it happened fast. Everyone should have had a better perception of what was happening!

Title: POSSIBLE RWY INCURSION. PLT CONFUSION CONCERNING CLRNC TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD.
Narrative: WE HAD A CLRNC TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD AND I READ BACK THE INSTRUCTIONS. GOING THROUGH MY PRE-TKOF CHK, THE CAPT HEARD A TKOF CLRNC SO HE RECOMMENDED THAT I READ IT BACK MYSELF NOT BEING SURE. SO I DID, BUT IT WAS NOT FOR US. THE TWR CAME BACK TO US AND TOLD US WE DIDN'T HAVE CLRNC TO TKOF OR EVEN TO BE ON THE RWY. SO THE CAPT STARTED TURNING BACK OFF THE RWY. THE TKOF CLRNC WAS FOR AN ACR Z ON INTXN 8 BUT WE DID HAVE A CLRNC TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD BEFORE ALL OF THIS. SO NOW THE TWR CAME BACK AND SAID 'TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD' AND WE WERE ALREADY OFF THE RWY BACK TO THE TXWY. THE CAPT DIDN'T LIKE THE SIT SO HE TAXIED OFF. I TOLD TWR AFTER WE WERE OFF AND WE ENDED UP CALLING THEM. THE TWR CTLR WAS IN TRAINING AND WHEN ALL THIS HAPPENED WE DID HEAR A SECOND VOICE BTWN ALL THIS. IT SEEMED THAT THE CTLR DIDN'T KNOW OR LISTEN TO MY READBACKS ALSO THE CAPT SHOULD HAVE STAYED ON THE RWY AFTER OUR SECOND TAXI POS AND HOLD BUT IT HAPPENED FAST. CAPT DIDN'T LIKE THE SIT BECAUSE SOMEONE WAS APCHING TO LAND. IN MY OPINION THE CAPT WAS RIGHT TO TAXI OFF UNTIL SOMEONE KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON IN THE CONFUSION. I SHOULD HAVE SPOKEN UP WHEN THE CAPT TAXIED OFF, YET IT HAPPENED FAST. EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE HAD A BETTER PERCEPTION OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING!
