Narrative:
At XA30Z on dec/wed/95 while under mia approach control vectoring to mia runway 09R, we were told to expedite descent to 3000 ft on a 270 degree heading and expect a base turn in 4 mi. Approximately 1 minute later, the crew acknowledged instructions for a turn to 070 degrees. While rolling out on a 070 degree heading, the controller told us to continue our turn to 180 degrees. He then stated that the original turn to 070 degrees was not intended for us.
