Narrative:
Flying an EMS helicopter, I called ZZZ tower 5 mi north and was told to standby. I continued inbound, having established 2-WAY radio communication. Closer in, I called ZZZ tower with a request to land on the south ramp. The controller seemed upset and made a point to fix my location as if with some agenda (violation). I then had some doubt about whether or not he had actually called me with my registration number during the initial contact and 'standby' communication.
