Narrative:
I was on a flight with a student doing commercial maneuvers in the laf area. Snow removal was in progress at laf and touch-and-goes were not authority/authorized. Wanting to do some touch- and-goes, I proceeded to one of the local uncontrolled airports. Since I did not check the NOTAMS for runway conditions I elected to fly over the airport to check the runway. I called traffic several times and when I flew over the runway it appeared to be plowed. I entered the traffic pattern and the following landing was uneventful. While taxiing back for takeoff, cfj unicom advised me that the airport was notamed closed. If I had checked the NOTAMS with a more thorough preflight, I would have obtained this important information. The aircraft we were flying was a piper cadet (PA28-161). It is a low wing 160 hp training aircraft.

Title: INSTRUCTOR WITH COMMERCIAL STUDENT LANDS AT ARPT NOTAMED CLOSED.
Narrative: I WAS ON A FLT WITH A STUDENT DOING COMMERCIAL MANEUVERS IN THE LAF AREA. SNOW REMOVAL WAS IN PROGRESS AT LAF AND TOUCH-AND-GOES WERE NOT AUTH. WANTING TO DO SOME TOUCH- AND-GOES, I PROCEEDED TO ONE OF THE LCL UNCTLED ARPTS. SINCE I DID NOT CHK THE NOTAMS FOR RWY CONDITIONS I ELECTED TO FLY OVER THE ARPT TO CHK THE RWY. I CALLED TFC SEVERAL TIMES AND WHEN I FLEW OVER THE RWY IT APPEARED TO BE PLOWED. I ENTERED THE TFC PATTERN AND THE FOLLOWING LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL. WHILE TAXIING BACK FOR TKOF, CFJ UNICOM ADVISED ME THAT THE ARPT WAS NOTAMED CLOSED. IF I HAD CHKED THE NOTAMS WITH A MORE THOROUGH PREFLT, I WOULD HAVE OBTAINED THIS IMPORTANT INFO. THE ACFT WE WERE FLYING WAS A PIPER CADET (PA28-161). IT IS A LOW WING 160 HP TRAINING ACFT.
