Narrative:

After my aircraft had a propeller strike at nassau international, I had an FAA mechanic examine the aircraft to see how bad the damages were. The mechanic did a shaft run and then installed a spare propeller. A run-up was done to see if there were any vibrations or high oil temperatures. Everything checked out normal. I then flew the aircraft to ft lauderdale executive for further inspection. I was afraid to leave the aircraft at nassau international airport because the lack of security. Pot holes on the ramp contributed to the propeller strike. If civil airport aviation would have fixed those holes none of this would have happened. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states he sent the report right after the incident. The post mark indicates nov/xx/95. Reporter says the mail over there is extremely poor and was quite surprised that it arrived so late to us. FAA did follow up investigation stating that the aircraft should not have been flown until engine checked out. Engine was sent to factory, torn down and no problems found. Letter to reporter on nov/xa/95 says FAA finds no violation and investigation is closed. Taking no chances, reporter's company had new engine, new propeller and new landing gear installed. There is so much vandalism at nassau that reporter keeps extra parts and used a new propeller to get the aircraft to main maintenance base for repairs. Reporter has some political friends with whom he discussed the issue and they in turn put pressure on the civil aviation to repair the ramp area. It is better but still not completely free of pot holes. Reporter is going to try to meet with FAA representatives who will be in nassau next month.

RPTR IS GOING TO TRY TO MEET WITH FAA REPRESENTATIVES WHO WILL BE IN NASSAU NEXT MONTH.
