Narrative:
While on approach in atl to runway 8L encountered windshear, loss of 45 KIAS for more than 30 seconds, with a loss of 500 ft at full power, followed by an increase of 45 KIAS plus 300 ft. Informed ATC we were unable to hold altitude. The only PIREP we heard was one of moderate turbulence.

Narrative: WHILE ON APCH IN ATL TO RWY 8L ENCOUNTERED WINDSHEAR, LOSS OF 45 KIAS FOR MORE THAN 30 SECONDS, WITH A LOSS OF 500 FT AT FULL PWR, FOLLOWED BY AN INCREASE OF 45 KIAS PLUS 300 FT. INFORMED ATC WE WERE UNABLE TO HOLD ALT. THE ONLY PIREP WE HEARD WAS ONE OF MODERATE TURB.
