Narrative:
I was ferrying 2 passenger in a cessna 185 on floats and landed. As I was on the step and reduced power, floats hit unk sand that had apparently built up close to surface of water, causing floats to contact sand and turn over seaplane. The low area of sand was unmarked as are other areas. Could not know this was there nor have I had this occur before. I have landed there over 100 times without problems. No one was injured and no structural damage to aircraft as speed was low and occurred when I cut the throttle. There was no way I could have known this was there. I could not see anything under the dirty water and checked the area before I landed as best I could and did not see anything. I learned later a storm had come through and moved the channel but the cane pole marker for the edge of the sandbar was not moved.
