Narrative:
Failure to change altimeters when passing 4000 ft transition altitude on departure from paris, orly. This caused us to be about 500 ft high when leveling at FL80. Oncoming traffic at FL90 produced an RA on our TCASII as we were leveling. The RA commanded a descent. We shallowed out our climb slightly and the RA was over at about the instant we leveled off (approximately 5 seconds duration). We were just about to descend, but since the RA was over and we could see the traffic on our TCASII was going behind us, we evaluated our situation. We immediately realized our error, and changed our altimeters. We were about to descend the 500 ft, but 'center' (paris radar) cleared us to climb. We feel paris radar was aware of what we had done through a short conversation we had with them.

Title: FLC OF A WDB OVERSHOT CLB ALT CAUSED BY FAILING TO RESET ALTIMETERS FOR FLT LEVEL IN FOREIGN AIRSPACE. NMAC.
Narrative: FAILURE TO CHANGE ALTIMETERS WHEN PASSING 4000 FT TRANSITION ALT ON DEP FROM PARIS, ORLY. THIS CAUSED US TO BE ABOUT 500 FT HIGH WHEN LEVELING AT FL80. ONCOMING TFC AT FL90 PRODUCED AN RA ON OUR TCASII AS WE WERE LEVELING. THE RA COMMANDED A DSCNT. WE SHALLOWED OUT OUR CLB SLIGHTLY AND THE RA WAS OVER AT ABOUT THE INSTANT WE LEVELED OFF (APPROX 5 SECONDS DURATION). WE WERE JUST ABOUT TO DSND, BUT SINCE THE RA WAS OVER AND WE COULD SEE THE TFC ON OUR TCASII WAS GOING BEHIND US, WE EVALUATED OUR SIT. WE IMMEDIATELY REALIZED OUR ERROR, AND CHANGED OUR ALTIMETERS. WE WERE ABOUT TO DSND THE 500 FT, BUT 'CTR' (PARIS RADAR) CLRED US TO CLB. WE FEEL PARIS RADAR WAS AWARE OF WHAT WE HAD DONE THROUGH A SHORT CONVERSATION WE HAD WITH THEM.
