Narrative:
I and a passenger departed riverside, ca, on nov/sun/95 en route to hawthorne, ca. My clearance was amended. We were experiencing headset problems and switched to cabin speakers. Approach informed us that we were north of our course, and almost 300 ft above assigned altitude, gave us vectors to the localizer. I advised when we were established on the localizer. On final approach the KNS80 went blank twice. I couldn't receive anything on the communication radio. Uncertain of my missed approach point, due to the radio problems, and in MVFR conditions, with lax approximately 2 DME away, I chose to not go back up into IMC conditions. I squawked 7700 on the transponder and landed at lax. It was obvious that they were holding runway 25L open for my emergency landing.

Title: A GA PLT LOSES HIS NAV SYS AND HIS VHF COM RECEIVER, SQUAWKS EMER ON HIS XPONDER, STAYS IN VFR WX AND LANDS ON RWY 25L AT LAX.
Narrative: I AND A PAX DEPARTED RIVERSIDE, CA, ON NOV/SUN/95 ENRTE TO HAWTHORNE, CA. MY CLRNC WAS AMENDED. WE WERE EXPERIENCING HEADSET PROBS AND SWITCHED TO CABIN SPEAKERS. APCH INFORMED US THAT WE WERE N OF OUR COURSE, AND ALMOST 300 FT ABOVE ASSIGNED ALT, GAVE US VECTORS TO THE LOC. I ADVISED WHEN WE WERE ESTABLISHED ON THE LOC. ON FINAL APCH THE KNS80 WENT BLANK TWICE. I COULDN'T RECEIVE ANYTHING ON THE COM RADIO. UNCERTAIN OF MY MISSED APCH POINT, DUE TO THE RADIO PROBS, AND IN MVFR CONDITIONS, WITH LAX APPROX 2 DME AWAY, I CHOSE TO NOT GO BACK UP INTO IMC CONDITIONS. I SQUAWKED 7700 ON THE XPONDER AND LANDED AT LAX. IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THEY WERE HOLDING RWY 25L OPEN FOR MY EMER LNDG.
