Narrative:
Following very brief taxi our aircraft was cleared for takeoff runway 23. Our normal taxi route was blocked by another air carrier aircraft which was delayed for rerte. Captain taxied aircraft onto runway while I completed reading taxi and takeoff checklists and alerted cabin for takeoff. Captain stopped aircraft on runway and turned aircraft over to me. He advanced pcls and I released brakes. At approximately 60-80 KTS tower advised us to abort takeoff, advising we were on wrong runway. We back-taxied on runway 28 and were reclred for takeoff on another runway, which was uneventful. Causes: 1) snow covered field at night, 2) crew unfamiliar with field, 3) crew rushed to start second engine and complete all checklists (self imposed pressure to accept takeoff clearance immediately when offered instead of properly asking for delay), and 4) failure both pilots to xchk runway heading against compass indications.

Title: ACR FLC MISTAKES RWY 28 FOR RWY 23L AT CLE AND BEGINS TKOF. CTLR ABORTS ACFT.
Narrative: FOLLOWING VERY BRIEF TAXI OUR ACFT WAS CLRED FOR TKOF RWY 23. OUR NORMAL TAXI RTE WAS BLOCKED BY ANOTHER ACR ACFT WHICH WAS DELAYED FOR RERTE. CAPT TAXIED ACFT ONTO RWY WHILE I COMPLETED READING TAXI AND TKOF CHKLISTS AND ALERTED CABIN FOR TKOF. CAPT STOPPED ACFT ON RWY AND TURNED ACFT OVER TO ME. HE ADVANCED PCLS AND I RELEASED BRAKES. AT APPROX 60-80 KTS TWR ADVISED US TO ABORT TKOF, ADVISING WE WERE ON WRONG RWY. WE BACK-TAXIED ON RWY 28 AND WERE RECLRED FOR TKOF ON ANOTHER RWY, WHICH WAS UNEVENTFUL. CAUSES: 1) SNOW COVERED FIELD AT NIGHT, 2) CREW UNFAMILIAR WITH FIELD, 3) CREW RUSHED TO START SECOND ENG AND COMPLETE ALL CHKLISTS (SELF IMPOSED PRESSURE TO ACCEPT TKOF CLRNC IMMEDIATELY WHEN OFFERED INSTEAD OF PROPERLY ASKING FOR DELAY), AND 4) FAILURE BOTH PLTS TO XCHK RWY HEADING AGAINST COMPASS INDICATIONS.
