Narrative:

Extended landing gear on approach. Left main gear did not indicate down (no green light), red 'unlock light' was not on -- conflicting indications. Went through abnormal procedures, recycled gear with no change. Observed main gear through viewer in floor, down lock indicated normal. We landed uneventfully. Gear position switch on strut found to be defective.

Title: AN ACR DC9-30 FLC DID NOT GET A GREEN LNDG GEAR (DOWN AND LOCKED) INDICATION ON THE L-HAND MAIN LNDG GEAR. THE FLC USED THE MID CABIN LNDG GEAR VIEWER TO CONFIRM THAT THE L GEAR WAS SAFE AND THEN MADE A NORMAL LNDG.
