Narrative:
Problem arose during takeoff phase of touch and go. Student raised landing gear handle while on runway. Problem discovered when gear warning light illuminated. I noticed light, and quickly checked landing gear handle position. I saw handle selected up, but before I could reach handle the plane lifted, gear began to retract, and plane began to settle. I reached for the controls to get the plane off the ground. The plane became airborne but the propeller struck the runway. Once airborne, there was not enough runway to land, so I proceeded with a normal pattern and came around for a normal landing. Human performance: misjudgement of student's ability to handle a high performance aircraft, and failure to notice student actuate gear handle.

Title: PLT TRAINEE STRIKES PROP DURING TKOF DUE TO PUTTING THE LNDG GEAR HANDLE IN THE UP POS PRIOR TO LIFT OFF CAUSING THE GEAR TO COME UP EARLY AND THE ACFT SETTLING BACK ON THE RWY.
Narrative: PROB AROSE DURING TKOF PHASE OF TOUCH AND GO. STUDENT RAISED LNDG GEAR HANDLE WHILE ON RWY. PROB DISCOVERED WHEN GEAR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I NOTICED LIGHT, AND QUICKLY CHKED LNDG GEAR HANDLE POS. I SAW HANDLE SELECTED UP, BUT BEFORE I COULD REACH HANDLE THE PLANE LIFTED, GEAR BEGAN TO RETRACT, AND PLANE BEGAN TO SETTLE. I REACHED FOR THE CTLS TO GET THE PLANE OFF THE GND. THE PLANE BECAME AIRBORNE BUT THE PROP STRUCK THE RWY. ONCE AIRBORNE, THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH RWY TO LAND, SO I PROCEEDED WITH A NORMAL PATTERN AND CAME AROUND FOR A NORMAL LNDG. HUMAN PERFORMANCE: MISJUDGEMENT OF STUDENT'S ABILITY TO HANDLE A HIGH PERFORMANCE ACFT, AND FAILURE TO NOTICE STUDENT ACTUATE GEAR HANDLE.
