Narrative:

The clearance was the beggo 1 out of dfw. The SID calls for flying a 240 degree heading when departing south and 270 degree heading when departing north. After takeoff (we were departing south) I flew a 270 degree heading. ATC asked what heading we were flying. I said 270 degrees, he said you should be on a 240 degree heading. This problem arose because I misread the SID. I got it in my mind that I was supposed to fly 270 degree heading and even briefed the takeoff to fly 270 degree heading. The first officer did not catch the wrong heading either during my takeoff brief.
