Narrative:
Trying to follow vectors from socal with defective HSI. Controller became very sarcastic. Controllers should be made aware that pilots do not purposefully have problems. When problems occur they need all the help they can get, not a testy controller on the other end of the horn.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLT OF AN SMA SEL ON IFR DEP EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTY WITH HIS HDG INDICATOR (HSI) IS SUBJECTED TO A SARCASTIC ATC CTLR DURING VECTORS.
Narrative: TRYING TO FOLLOW VECTORS FROM SOCAL WITH DEFECTIVE HSI. CTLR BECAME VERY SARCASTIC. CTLRS SHOULD BE MADE AWARE THAT PLTS DO NOT PURPOSEFULLY HAVE PROBS. WHEN PROBS OCCUR THEY NEED ALL THE HELP THEY CAN GET, NOT A TESTY CTLR ON THE OTHER END OF THE HORN.
