Narrative:
Upon landing at st thomas and using the brakes to stop, the left brake got hot and lost its effectiveness. The crosswind from the right intensified the need for left brake. The plane started a right turn and ground looped. The tail came around and hit a taxiway light and sign knocking them both over. Only a small puncture in the vertical stabilizer resulted to the plane. The brakes checked out to be effective after letting them cool. Checking the left brake more often or servicing the disk brake more often could be a good suggestion.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLT OF AN SMT TWIN TAILWHEEL ACFT LOST CTL OF THE ACFT DURING LNDG ROLL, RESULTING IN A GND LOOP AND STRIKING A TXWY LIGHT AND SIGN WITH ONE OF ITS VERT STABILIZERS. ONLY MINOR DAMAGE TO THE ACFT, AND THE LIGHT AND SIGN WERE KNOCKED OVER.
