Narrative:
Do not understand hsv tower/approach's logic in cancelling landing clearance and sending us back to approach. We were fully configured, on short final, in severe VFR, clearance to land and no traffic in sight or in the pattern or on the ground. It seemed that their reasoning was purely punitive in nature when a simple call to approach/tower after landing would have been sufficient.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: THE RPTRS ON FINAL APCH TO HSV WERE TOLD TO GAR WITH NO EXPLANATION AND NO APPARENT TFC. THE PLTS BELIEVE THE CTLR'S REASON WAS PURELY PUNITIVE.
Narrative: DO NOT UNDERSTAND HSV TWR/APCH'S LOGIC IN CANCELLING LNDG CLRNC AND SENDING US BACK TO APCH. WE WERE FULLY CONFIGURED, ON SHORT FINAL, IN SEVERE VFR, CLRNC TO LAND AND NO TFC IN SIGHT OR IN THE PATTERN OR ON THE GND. IT SEEMED THAT THEIR REASONING WAS PURELY PUNITIVE IN NATURE WHEN A SIMPLE CALL TO APCH/TWR AFTER LNDG WOULD HAVE BEEN SUFFICIENT.
