Narrative:
Holding short for takeoff on runway 10 at paris, charles de gaulle, tower says, 'after departing aircraft line-up and hold.' there was an aircraft on the runway and one on a 5 mi final. We moved into position on the runway. We held and received no clearance for takeoff and the aircraft on final had to go around. Tower informed us they said, 'after arriving aircraft line-up and hold.' misunderstanding of tower's instruction. This was my first time to europe in 6 months. I misunderstood the tower's instruction and not being used to this command, it caught me by surprise.

Title: AN ACR FLC THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE TO LINE-UP AFTER DEPARTING ACFT WHEN IT WAS ACTUALLY THE ARRIVING ACFT THAT THEY WERE TO LINE UP AFTER. THE ACFT ON FINAL APCH EXECUTED A GAR.
Narrative: HOLDING SHORT FOR TKOF ON RWY 10 AT PARIS, CHARLES DE GAULLE, TWR SAYS, 'AFTER DEPARTING ACFT LINE-UP AND HOLD.' THERE WAS AN ACFT ON THE RWY AND ONE ON A 5 MI FINAL. WE MOVED INTO POS ON THE RWY. WE HELD AND RECEIVED NO CLRNC FOR TKOF AND THE ACFT ON FINAL HAD TO GAR. TWR INFORMED US THEY SAID, 'AFTER ARRIVING ACFT LINE-UP AND HOLD.' MISUNDERSTANDING OF TWR'S INSTRUCTION. THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME TO EUROPE IN 6 MONTHS. I MISUNDERSTOOD THE TWR'S INSTRUCTION AND NOT BEING USED TO THIS COMMAND, IT CAUGHT ME BY SURPRISE.
