Narrative:

Deviating around thunderstorm in very turbulent air exceeded level off altitude of 5000 ft by 300 ft. Vertical windshear encounter made it hard to hold assigned altitude. Very busy time of flight, both pilots focused on leveloff, but hard to nail it with the turbulence. A situation where we were aware of deviation, but not a lot could be done. Supplemental information from acn 330910: felt it better to deviate altitude 300-400 ft than possibly exceed structural limits of aircraft.

Title: WHILE DEVIATING AROUND TSTMS DURING DEP, AN ACR FLC EXCEEDED ASSIGNED ALT WHILE IN TURBULENT AIR. THE CREW MEMBERS RPT THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO HOLD ASSIGNED ALT AND THAT THEY DID NOT WANT TO EXCEED STRUCTURAL LIMITS IN MAINTAINING ALT.
