Narrative:
This may rank as one of your most unusual occurrences for a NASA report. It is an unfortunate environment that we operate in (reference unreasonable FAA violations) that causes me to file this report. The copilot must have conversationally mentioned to our flight attendants that it was my birthday today. Near the end of our bos-sfo flight, the flight attendants brought up to the cockpit a birthday dish of ice cream for me and also sang 'happy birthday.' a very nice gesture, with a small problem -- 5 of the flight attendants tried to fit in the cockpit but could not, and still have the cockpit door completely closed. So while the gesture was very much appreciated by me, I couldn't help but think about the cockpit door slightly opened while the 5 flight attendants were singing 'happy birthday,' and only 1 flight attendant in the cabin. I don't want to be thought of as a 'grinch,' but from some of the stories I've heard through the yrs, this report could possibly just be important to me. Sorry for feeling I had to take up your time with this incident.
