Narrative:
We were bringing an ATR 72 into revenue service out of heavy maintenance. As it was the first officer's turn to fly, I released brakes and set takeoff power. At that time the ccas illuminated '#1 engine fire' with the aural warning. There were no other corroborative indications of fire (excessive itt, fuel flow, fire light in condition lever). An abort was accomplished and announced on unicom. As the power levers were brought back the fire warning ceased. The engine fire on ground checklist was not accomplished due to the lack of indication and evidence. As marquette county airport is not very large, the total time from takeoff to gate was 3 mins. The maintenance personnel attending our aircraft afterwards discovered the problem was a loose cannon plug rendering the false indication. (Note: as the airfield and txwys were snow covered with poor braking action, a 2 engine taxi back was accomplished.)

Title: THE RPTR EXPERIENCED AN UNCORROBORATED FIRE WARNING. THE AURAL FIRE WARNING OCCURRED BUT NO LIGHTS IN THE HANDLES, OR FIRE LIGHT, OR HIGH EGT.
Narrative: WE WERE BRINGING AN ATR 72 INTO REVENUE SVC OUT OF HVY MAINT. AS IT WAS THE FO'S TURN TO FLY, I RELEASED BRAKES AND SET TKOF PWR. AT THAT TIME THE CCAS ILLUMINATED '#1 ENG FIRE' WITH THE AURAL WARNING. THERE WERE NO OTHER CORROBORATIVE INDICATIONS OF FIRE (EXCESSIVE ITT, FUEL FLOW, FIRE LIGHT IN CONDITION LEVER). AN ABORT WAS ACCOMPLISHED AND ANNOUNCED ON UNICOM. AS THE PWR LEVERS WERE BROUGHT BACK THE FIRE WARNING CEASED. THE ENG FIRE ON GND CHKLIST WAS NOT ACCOMPLISHED DUE TO THE LACK OF INDICATION AND EVIDENCE. AS MARQUETTE COUNTY ARPT IS NOT VERY LARGE, THE TOTAL TIME FROM TKOF TO GATE WAS 3 MINS. THE MAINT PERSONNEL ATTENDING OUR ACFT AFTERWARDS DISCOVERED THE PROB WAS A LOOSE CANNON PLUG RENDERING THE FALSE INDICATION. (NOTE: AS THE AIRFIELD AND TXWYS WERE SNOW COVERED WITH POOR BRAKING ACTION, A 2 ENG TAXI BACK WAS ACCOMPLISHED.)
