Narrative:

A 400 ft radio tower was built approximately 2 mi from my airstrip. My strip is used for agriculture operations. This tower was built during the winter which is a slow period for agriculture aviation in this area. I noticed the tower while passing close to it in an automobile. I received no notice that this tower was to be constructed. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states that he flies from his own small strip which is southwest of snook, tx, which is 15 mi west of college station. The tower itself is 2 mi nnw of his strip. It may well be indicated on the chart at this time, but being an agriculture pilot he seldom needs a chart and seldom uses one. His operation uses no 'people planes' and does not fly for pleasure. He feels this tower is probably not of concern to most pilots as they would not be flying so low. He has not spoken to anyone about the situation and was mostly just surprised to notice it was there without any notification.

I RECEIVED NO NOTICE THAT THIS TWR WAS TO BE CONSTRUCTED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATES THAT HE FLIES FROM HIS OWN SMALL STRIP WHICH IS SW OF SNOOK, TX, WHICH IS 15 MI W OF COLLEGE STATION. THE TWR ITSELF IS 2 MI NNW OF HIS STRIP. IT MAY WELL BE INDICATED ON THE CHART AT THIS TIME, BUT BEING AN AGRICULTURE PLT HE SELDOM NEEDS A CHART AND SELDOM USES ONE. HIS OP USES NO 'PEOPLE PLANES' AND DOES NOT FLY FOR PLEASURE. HE FEELS THIS TWR IS PROBABLY NOT OF CONCERN TO MOST PLTS AS THEY WOULD NOT BE FLYING SO LOW. HE HAS NOT SPOKEN TO ANYONE ABOUT THE SIT AND WAS MOSTLY JUST SURPRISED TO NOTICE IT WAS THERE WITHOUT ANY NOTIFICATION.
