Narrative:
We were in a descent from FL240 to our new assigned altitude on autoplt. The altitude preselect disengaged and we descended 500 ft below our assigned altitude. Upon noticing this, we climbed back to our assigned altitude.

Title: FLC OF AN LTT OVERSHOT DSCNT ASSIGNED ALT DUE TO THE AUTOPLT INVOLUNTARILY DISENGAGING.
Narrative: WE WERE IN A DSCNT FROM FL240 TO OUR NEW ASSIGNED ALT ON AUTOPLT. THE ALT PRESELECT DISENGAGED AND WE DSNDED 500 FT BELOW OUR ASSIGNED ALT. UPON NOTICING THIS, WE CLBED BACK TO OUR ASSIGNED ALT.
