Narrative:
While in contact with ground was taxiing from FBO to active runway. I was passing parked equipment for FBO when a tug pulling a set of stairs pulled out of the equipment area into my path. I had to slow to avoid a collision. I checked with ground control, she stated that she had no radio contact with the people on the tug. Recommend people on tug have 'ground' radio (121.6) and/or receive additional training.
