Narrative:

ZOB assigned us FL290 then switched us to ZID ATC. We checked in with ZID as climbing to FL290. At approximately 28500 ft, controller asked us to confirm FL290 and not FL270. We verified FL290. Controller asked us to turn right 15 degrees. ZID switched us to another frequency and responded that we had been cleared to FL290. From radio transmission we believe ZOB incorrectly assigned us FL290, causing a traffic conflict with ZID traffic at FL290. ZOB frequency was 119.95, ZID frequencys were 126.97/125.07. TCASII showed traffic co-altitude 5-6 mi at 10 O'clock position, no RA received.

Title: AN ACR FLC IS ASKED BY ZID TO CONFIRM THAT THEY WERE ASSIGNED FL290 NOT FL270 AND THEY DO SO. LATER, AFTER A TFC SEPARATION MANEUVER, ZID CONFIRMS THAT ZOB HAD ERRONEOUSLY ASSIGNED FL290.

Narrative: ZOB ASSIGNED US FL290 THEN SWITCHED US TO ZID ATC. WE CHKED IN WITH ZID AS CLBING TO FL290. AT APPROX 28500 FT, CTLR ASKED US TO CONFIRM FL290 AND NOT FL270. WE VERIFIED FL290. CTLR ASKED US TO TURN R 15 DEGS. ZID SWITCHED US TO ANOTHER FREQ AND RESPONDED THAT WE HAD BEEN CLRED TO FL290. FROM RADIO XMISSION WE BELIEVE ZOB INCORRECTLY ASSIGNED US FL290, CAUSING A TFC CONFLICT WITH ZID TFC AT FL290. ZOB FREQ WAS 119.95, ZID FREQS WERE 126.97/125.07. TCASII SHOWED TFC CO-ALT 5-6 MI AT 10 O'CLOCK POS, NO RA RECEIVED.
