Narrative:
During walkaround inspection, I noticed a pickup truck pull up to gate. 2 persons debarked, one wearing a ramp pass and one not. I challenged the person without the pass, he told me that 'south security gate said I didn't need a pass as long as I remained close to my partner.' I called the atl police station for atl airport and reported the unauthorized intruder on the ramp. They did not dispatch an officer to investigate. 20 mins later I called atl FAA tower, they told me they had no authority/authorized on the ramp, they told me to call FAA security. There was no answer! Recommendations: we need to have a hotline phone number to an FAA security office that is manned 24 hours a day. Preparations for the olympics is not sufficient cause to drop security on the ramp. I'll bet that if security at atl will allow people on the ramp without a pass, then they are not searching the vehicles that these people are driving. Director of security at atl needs to take a hard look at accountability within his purview as far as I am concerned. Security on atl ramps is nonexistent. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter restated his lack of confidence in the security at the atl airport. He stated that an FAA security person also concurred with his complaint about the lack of apparent security since he does not believe that the vehicles are searched prior to coming on the airport ramp. The reporter hopes that we can bring this matter to the proper authority/authorized's attention before something happens. He further stated that there is a lot of construction going on at the airport in preparation for the summer olympics.

DIRECTOR OF SECURITY AT ATL NEEDS TO TAKE A HARD LOOK AT ACCOUNTABILITY WITHIN HIS PURVIEW AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED. SECURITY ON ATL RAMPS IS NONEXISTENT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR RESTATED HIS LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN THE SECURITY AT THE ATL ARPT. HE STATED THAT AN FAA SECURITY PERSON ALSO CONCURRED WITH HIS COMPLAINT ABOUT THE LACK OF APPARENT SECURITY SINCE HE DOES NOT BELIEVE THAT THE VEHICLES ARE SEARCHED PRIOR TO COMING ON THE ARPT RAMP. THE RPTR HOPES THAT WE CAN BRING THIS MATTER TO THE PROPER AUTH'S ATTN BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENS. HE FURTHER STATED THAT THERE IS A LOT OF CONSTRUCTION GOING ON AT THE ARPT IN PREPARATION FOR THE SUMMER OLYMPICS.
