Narrative:
During commercial maneuvers in the practice area at 2w6 (st mary's). The aircraft my student and I were flying came in close proximity with a helicopter that was also maneuvering. Due to steep banking and high and low pitch altitudes, visibility was limited. Upon completing eights on pylons the helicopter was spotted, and with the completion of the maneuver the aircraft turned away from the conflicting traffic. At no time did I feel that the safety of my aircraft or the helicopter was in danger. The helicopter did turn back toward our maneuver area but was still no safety factor. My student and I flew back to the airport for takeoffs and lndgs. The aircraft we were flying was a PA28-200R and the helicopter was huey.
