Narrative:

Transitioning through ewr's class B airspace, I noticed the fuel boost pump caution lights. Confirmed boost pump failure. Noticed fuel gauge decreasing at rapid rate. Decided to call newark to advise them of situation but radios would not transmit. I then declared an emergency and was cleared to land at ewr. I initiated an approach to the north end of the field away from inbound jet traffic and any ground personnel. I landed safely and shut down aircraft. Later discovered that the generator failed due to a faulty circuit breaker. At the time of the first indication of the fuel gauge reading lower fuel, I decided that landing the aircraft as soon as possible was proper action due to the fact that I needed to determine fuel amount.
